Storage devices are used to store information in the computer. ROM and RAM are primary storages devices. Theses storage devices are mounted on the mother board. RAM stands for Random Access Memory. Random Access Memory (RAM) is temporary memory of the computer.

Computer places all the information in Random Access Memory (RAM). All programs loaded into Random Access Memory (RAM). When a computer is is turned off or power failure all the information or data present in Random Access Memory (RAM) is deleted. Random Access Memory (RAM) is available in shape of memory chip which is mounted on the mother board. We can add and remove a memory chip from mother board very easily. ROM stands read only memory.

Read only memory (ROM) has a permanent nature so we can just read the information present in it. The data store in read only memory (ROM) remains in it even when we turn off the computer or power failure. We cannot change the previous information stored in read only memory (ROM) so at the time of manufacturing vital information is saved in read only memory (ROM) by manufacturer. It is available in form of chip which is mounted on the mother board.
