Yes, the Staffordshire bull terrier commonly faces health problems such as breathing problems, cataracts and over-heating. It should be kept indoors as much as possible, and the room must be adequately ventilated. Staffordshire bull terriers commonly complain of difficulties in breathing, shortness of breath, breathlessness or dyspnea.

If the dog is outdoors for very long, or if the room does not have proper ventilation facilities, the breathing problems may be severe. The air-conditioners, coolers and fans must be adjusted to a suitable temperature so that the dog does not feel too warm or too cold. Extreme fluctuations in the weather or changes in the temperature may cause severe breathing problems. Care must be taken not to allow the dog to go out on its own without a leash, eat anything that does not agree with its digestive system or exert itself too much. Its sleeping pattern must be checked for any abnormal behaviour and the dog must be immediately taken to the veterinary surgeon for a check-up.
