John Keats is known as one of the best romantic poets of English literature. John Keats was born in London on 31 October, 1795. His parents were Thomas Keats, who was a hostler and his mother was Frances Jennings Keats.
His father died when he was only seven years old. His mother remarried but later left the second husband and they started living with his grandmother. His mother also died when he was only 15 years of age. He had to leave school and started working as an apprentice at a surgeons. He left his apprenticeship in 1814 and started studying literature at Guy's Hospital.
He soon found his talent for poetry and started writing poems. He had a brief affair with his next door neighbor Fanny Brawne. However, it soon became public and they were scandalized. John Keats got tuberculosis soon, a disease because of which his mother and young brother had died. He left London in 1820 and moved to Italy on his doctor's advice. However, this did not help and he died in the year 1821 in Italy and was buried at the Protestant Cemetery Rome.
