Writer Abdullah bin Abdul Kadir was born on Malacca in the year 1796. Malacca is the second smallest state in Malaysia. It has its location on the southernmost tip of the Malaysian Peninsula. The capital city is Malacca Town.

Abdul Kadir was a Malayan writer and a very fervent critic. He died in Jeddah (present Saudi Arabia) in 1854. He is also known by the name 'Munshi' which means teacher. The name itself reflects his Indian originality. Abdullah's view towards the Malay political system was critical who always strived to impart modern ideas to the community since the Malayan community was deprived from education. He was very critical of the Kerajaan, which is the political system of Malacca. Abdullah bin Abdul Kadir followed his father's footsteps with great zeal of becoming a translator in the colonial offices.
