I would agree to call the police opr sherrif station responsible for the jurisdiction your story is set in.... Police codes can vary widely between jurisdictions. For instance, here in Northern California, we also technically have "10-56a" for attempted suicide and "10-56" for a successful suicide, while nearby Oakland uses "913A" for attempted suicide while "913" is if the person was successful in killing themselves....etc...
