How Does A TV Aerial Work?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The word aerial (which is also known as the word antenna) is defined as a transducer. It is basically designed for the purpose of transmission or reception of airwaves or radio waves. These are the two main types of electromagnetic waves.

A television antenna or aerial converts the electrical currents which are generated by television broadcasters into electromagnetic waves and vice-versa. The word antennae is the plural of the word antenna.

In physical terms, an antenna is basically arranged in the form of a series of conductors which generate a radiating electromagnetic field. This is the response to the alternating voltage which is applied and the alternating electric current which is associated with it. This electromagnetic field induces an alternating current in the antenna as well as a voltage between the terminals of the field.
