Yes, he had three. Susannah, Hamnet and Judith. Hamnet and Judith were twins. Hamnet died in 1596, of the plague. He was 11. Judith married Thomas Quiney, on February 10, 1616. A month earlier, Quiney had got Margaret Wheeler pregnant!. She died in childbirth, along with her baby, something that Quiney could never get away from. Shakespeare had been visited by two of his playwrighting friends, Michael Drayton and Ben Johnson, and, to celebrate his daughter's wedding, they went drinking, (Shakespeare liked a drink). He caught a chill, after a very heavy session, and, it is assumed, took the news of Quiney's indiscretion to heart, which aggravated his demeanour to the point that, on April 23, he died. Susannah, married John Hall, a very well respected physician, and inherited most of her father's estate and papers.
