How Do I Know If My Water Pumps Bad In My Dodge Dakota?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Most water pumps fail by leaking. The seal is worn out and coolant leaks thru the bearing and then out thru a "weep hole" on the bottom of the pump.

Look under the pump for signs of leaking coolant, a tiny amount is generally considered to be ok.

The thing is that once the pump starts leaking this leaking coolant will start destroying the pump bearing and in a short time that will get worn out too and the shaft will wobble, really time to change it!
