How Do You Install Landscape Lighting?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Before installing landscape lighting, you must first draw a sketch your home and the grounds, the deck, the fence, the shrubs and trees, etc. and pick the focal points to be the centres of attractions. It is advisable to pick two focal points to be the centres of attractions and use the remaining lighting as accents. The fixtures must be selected and located on your plan. Then you must select the place when the transformer will be located. The size of the transformer should be determined by adding all the individual fixtures together.

If you plan to use an outdoor receptacle, the transformer must be hung at least twelve inches above the ground. The fixtures must be laid on the ground at locations on the graph paper. The fixtures must be attached by cutting through the main cables. The transformer must be turned on at night before burying the cable and securing the fixtures. A spade can be used to slice through the sod or a trough can be made in the mulch to run the cable and the fixture stake is pressed inside the spade gap until the post rests at the floor level.
