What Are Biennial Herbs?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

As the name suggests, the term refers to the herbs that grows every two years. Sometimes we get perplexed with the term biennial and biannual as both of these words sound approximately similar. But let's not get confused, biannual is something that happened twice a year and biennial is something that happens at the gap of two years.

You can find numerous examples of biennial herbs and many of them are found in Europe. Barbarea vulgaris is of the prime examples of this kind of plants and is also naturalised in North America.

Herb Robert is also a common example of biennial herbs and is found mainly in Europe, Asia and northern part of Africa. In Britain you can found Herb Robert in hedgerows and is also used as a natural remedy for toothache and nosebleeds.
