Doing A Jesus Picture, Stitch Calls For Half/stitch And 1/4 Stitch, How Do I Do This-square ?

The material is a linen, and the square is adequate for reg. Crosstitch, but will be small for the face detail, can you tell me how I can do this?

For a half-stitch, only do half of the cross.  be consistent, either always go from bottom left to top right for the whole picture, or top left to bottom right.  do the directions not tell you which way to do it?  for a quarter stitch, you only go to the middle of the square.  this can be really difficult if the squares are the same size I'm used to working with- hope you have really good eyes.  how many threads are you using on the regular cross-stitch?  I would probably use fewer threads on those tiny stitches, maybe even only one.

The picture requires anywhere from 2-3 strands of floss, saving the face for last, doing the easier parts first. Will plan on a magnifying glass to do the face.thanks
