How Old Is It Ok To Have A Girlfriend?

I believe that dating is going to happen to our children whether we like it or not. I also believe that if the person is a responsible, respecting person, does well in school, listens to and can openly talk with his/her parents, then maybe 16 or so. It really depends on how mature the child is. I was allowed to "date" at 16. Make sure your child knows that he/she needs to respect his/herself and others before they can be a responsible dater. An open line of communication is SO important as well. They need to know that if they have questions or maybe did something they shouldn't or weren't ready to do, they can tell you and you will remember to relax, relate, release. Wish I had more advice.
