Solve 3x + 4y=8 for y When graphed this equation would be a line. By examining your answer to part a, what is the slope and y-intercept of this line? Slope = ______ Y-intercept = _____ c) Using your answer from part a, find the corresponding value of y when x =8.

    1) First, you should convert the equation to the "slope-intercept" form: Y = mx + b
    This will make everything easier.
         3x + 4y = 8
                 4y = 8 - 3x
                   y = -3/4x + 8/4
                   y = -3/4x + 2    This is your final equation.

    2) The slope is the 'm' of the equation. Remember: Y = mx + b. It is what 'x' is being multiplied by.
    In this case, we can clearly see the slope is -3/4.

    3) The y-intercept can be obtained by setting 'x' to 0 (zero). Replace 'x' for a zero.
         Y = -3/4(0) + 2
         y = 0 + 2
         y = 2    This is the y-intercept.

    A different and easier way to get it, if your equation is in the slope-intercept form, is just by reading the 'b' constant. As you can see, this equation had 2 for a 'b'.

        Solve each system of equations. Use whatever method
        y=x+7
        2y=-3x-1
