They don't. If your girl is pregnant and spotting you need to see your veterinarian. It can indicate miscarriage which is usually caused by a problem, illness, or STD or that your girl isn't pregnant at all but has a potentially deadly uterine infection instead of being pregnant which is also common. Preferably your vet has an ultrasound machine to get to the bottom of things quickly.
