Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

There are many differences in Fat32 and NTFS file system. Now days NTFS is widely used rather than the Fat32 file system. NTFS is always been a quicker and more safe and sound file system than Fat32. Between these two Fat32 is considered less safe than NTFS file system and therefore widely used. Suggested minimum volume size is around 10MB. Suggested practical maximum for volumes is 2 terabytes and much larger sizes are possible. In Fat32 volumes from 512MB to 2TB but you can format a FAT32 volume just up to 32GB.

To the file size greater than 4GB NTFS addresses and suffers fewer from fragmentation where as Fat32 does not address the file more than 4GB. You can use Active Directory and domain-based security like important features only by choosing NTFS as your file system. Also Microsoft says we should only use the format of FAT32 in situations where there is no other option available; other wise use NTFS as it is safer and easier file system with wide support.
