Why And When Did OMD Split?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark or OMD as it is popularly known is a British Synth pop band that was formed in 1979 by Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys both artists hailing from Wirral Peninsula, England; both musicians were involved in various bands in their teen age days before coming together to form the band.

The band delivered several hits before deciding to go their separate way in 1989; Andy McCluskey continued to play under the OMD name with different members while Paul Humphreys along with a few other band members decided to form a new group The Listening Pool which did not prove to be particularly successful.

In 1996 Humphreys collaborated with McCluskey for the OMD album Universal. However McCluskey decided to channel his energies in other projects and Humphrey took over performing under the OMD name. In 2005 the two decided to come officially together under the OMD banner and are set to release their next album in 2007.
