Why Do People Hate Random Questions? Even Though They Are So Cool To Ask ?

I think it's more about temperament than anything.  My dad used to consider those kinds of questions simply nonsense-- anything that wasn't based in reality he had no patience for.  I think he missed out on a lot of dreaming and wonder as a kid and even as an adult.  I hope you didn't take it too personally.  Some people feel foolish for entertaining questions of imagination, I think, because they have been taught or somehow decide there is little practical value in them-- as though if there heads are allowed to be "in the clouds" for a moment, that it is somehow childish or foolish.  Maybe they are afraid they won't want to keep their feet on the ground--who knows?

I am personally glad for the chance to dream, imagine and wonder.  There's always enough reality staring us in the face when we return!  And you're right, it can give a person insight as to how someone else thinks and what their values and aspirations might be!  I hope you won't stop asking because of one fuddy-duddy. :)

I think sometimes people have answers they are afraid to say out loud. We expose our inner thoughts to the outside world with our responses. So people don't want others to see their naked truth.

I don't hate random questions there f***ing awesome!
