    The word nettles is a word used in the Harry Potter series of books and movies. They are used as one of the ingredients in the potion used to cure boils. They were also gathered in Queerditch Marsh. They were used to make nettle tea. The ingredient used to make nettle tea was dried nettles.

    In common parlance, the word nettles is defined as a species of plants which are covered with hairs that sting. These stinging hairs are used as a form of defence against being eaten.

    The word nettle is also known by its scientific name, which is Urtica. The word nettles or Urtica is defined as a genus of flowering plants. They belong to the family Urticaceae. Nettles are most perennial herbs, but some are annual plants and a few species of nettles are shrubby. The most prominent member of the genus Urtica is the stinging nettle, which is scientifically known as Urtica dioica. This plant is native to the continents of Europe, Asia and North America.
