We Do A Lot Of Walking And Would Like A Dog. Would An Irish Terrier Be Able To Walk For Sometimes 15 Miles A Day?
Yes, an Irish terrier is a breed of dog that is highly agile and very fond of any form of physical exercise, whether it is a long walk, a trek, a game of fetch in the park or a swim. The agility and fondness for physical activities is basically a characteristic of all varieties of terriers.
Walking a dog is necessary to prevent it from becoming overweight and developing serious health complications as it approaches the latter years of its life. But there is a fine line between walking the dog and overdoing its daily quota of exercise. A stressed-out dog invites further complications, which may increase its owners' stress levels. Irish terriers enjoy being unleashed and love to roam about freely, but forcing them to do something against their wishes will result in an aggressive, disobedient pet and an unhappy master.
Dogs are supposed to be great stress-busters for their masters, so it is better to treat them with the care they need, which includes a balance of every type of activity in their schedule.
