Hi, my friend recently had a baby shower; her friends organized it for her; each visitor is asked to contribute a small amount to cover the food expenses in a restaurant they reserved for the occasion.

Maybe have a small get together at your house, have all the friends (excluding your friend that is having a baby) bring a plate of food, and a small gift. Or you could order some platters of food, and have a lovely tea party. You don't have to go anywhere, you can stay at your house for however long you want, and you don't have to worry about onlookers in a restaurant.
Just an idea. Hope it helps

Yes you can do it in a limited budget as well. You just need to figure out the place and the food and that too should be limited according to the budget.
There are a lot of ideas over the internet that you can see and then plan the baby shower accordingly.

Of course you can!  My daughter's baby shower was done on a very tight budget because we wanted to spend the big money on the gift.  It was held at our house, I printed off the invitations over the internet, the games where easy as I got the ideas off the internet, and the food was excellent as her close friends, her mother-in-law, and I each made something.  The decorations was bought at our local "Paper Warehouse" and not at a "Hallmark" store and my mom, the great-grandmother, baked the cake.  We had 50 friends and family members that attended and had a blast. Believe it or not, there was still plenty food that was ate and still had leftovers! Remember, she isn't going to remember how much you spent on her shower, she is going to remember the time and effort that you put in it and the loving friends and family that came to make it a special day. Good luck! You'll have a fun time planning it and it will be a very special day for you and her to remember.

Instead of buying expensive decorations, plates, napkins, etc. You can get them cheap at a "nothings over a dollar" store. The guests can all go in together and bring the food and you can hold it in someones home instead of renting a building or party room somewhere.
