Why Does A New Fluorescent Bulb Flicker?

    Because its cold and until it breaks itself in will do this

      Could be that it isn't getting a good ground.

      Did you twist the bulb snug into the slot when you installed it.?

        There are two kinds of fluorescent bulb setups. Cheaper fixtures (and all older fixtures) use a magnetic starter that charges up when you turn it on, but causes the bulb to flicker for a couple seconds. However many units now use an electronic ballast, which stores the energy needed to get the bulb going the instant you turn on the light switch.

        It's the fixture that causes this, not the bulb.
