They are the muscles that will contract when you are getting near the delivery date. They are like a contraction, and you will feel the muscles around the lower belly area, and it will come and go. Much like real labor, but less painful by far. Usually around a month to two weeks before you deliver. Hope this helps, good luck to you and congrats.

The uterus is a smooth muscle. Like every muscle, it contracts & relaxes. Braxton-hick's contractions are irregular contractions of the uterus when you are pregnant. It usually starts at 6 weeks of pregnancy. A sign that you are probably pregnant at this time. It normally returns on the 3rd week of pregnancy.
