The earth revolves and summer it is in a time zone or area where darkness comes later and the sun stays with us longer, the same can be said for the seasons it takes the earth 12 months to make a full rotation, thus explains the seasons, this is a explanation in lay mans terms I'm certain scientist would explain it scientifically.....the best to you
