    A concerto can be defined as a piece of music for an orchestra, featuring a very skilled soloist. A solo concerto is a concerto with just a solo instrument and orchestra. It developed during the Baroque period. There are three movements in a solo concerto. They are fast-slow-fast. This form of concerto was very famous and important during the romantic era and the classical era of Mozart and Beethoven.
    Most of the soloists were very well known during their time.

    Solo concertos can be of various instruments and types like the Flute Concerto; Piano Concerto; Violin Concerto; Horn Concerto; and so on. Concertos for more unusual instruments have been written in the 20th century such as the Harmonica, Tuba and Guitar. Some of the all time famous soloists are Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann, Lizst, Brahm etc.
