The process for writing a report on the workplace depends upon the reason or intention you have for writing this report. If, it is a class assignment, in which, you are to write about the Workplace in general; meaning all those places people go to work each day to work; then, you would simply write an essay type paper, using the required number of words or pages, requested by your instructor.

In this report or essay you answer these five questions: What, When, Where, Why and How. What do people in the workplace do? Where do people in the Workplace go to do their work? When do people do their work? Why does the workplace exist and what do people gain by being in the workplace? How do people become a part of the workplace and how do people remain a part of the workplace.

Now, if your report is to be a report about a specific workplace or perhaps one field within the workplace, such as manufacturing. Then, you will need to answer the same questions above regarding that specific workplace, or a specific field within the workplace. In reports and essays you always want to answer the same five questions, in some manner, so your paper will be complete.

If, your report is to be about a certain place of business, like for instance to tell all the good things or something bad about the business. You still use the same five questions to tell your story about what happened, when it happened, how it happened, where it happened, why it happened and add who are the people involved besides you.

Remember, reports are just essays composed of sentences to tell a story about persons, places, things, situations, incidents and so forth. But, always remember the five questions, write an outline answering the questions in phrases and then, from your outline write your story. When you are finished you have your report or your essay!
