Jack Russell Hasn't Come On Heat Yet And She's A Year Old? When Will She? And Do They Bleed Everytime They Come On Heat?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Sometimes the first heat will be what is known as a 'silent' heat in which they don't bleed much or at all as they aren't really mature at that point so it can be missed. Just swelling and stuff and sometimes not that much of that either. If it happens again they should be spayed (most anyways) as it can indicate a hormonal imbalance that may be corrected by the spay, a thyroid issue or some other things. It is also more difficult to know when they are in heat when that happens so accidents would be more likely. If she actually hasn't gone into season yet then that may also be from some of the same issues that cause silent's and false pregnancy's and things and we're back to recommended spay again.
