Log into "My Account" section and you will be asked to verify your email address, if you have not done before. Once you go to the "Register with Skype" and click the "Register" button, you will be sent an email with a link that takes you to www.skype.com. You will be then asked to enter your password, which confirms your email address. If your email programme has problems with hyper links, you can manually confirm your email address by copying the verification code into the verification code field.  

In case you do not receive the email from Skype containing the link to verify your email, it is quite a possibility that the email is being blocked from a spam filter.
