After singing for Liverpool from North East club Middlesborough, Graeme Souness won three European cups whilst at Liverpool.

His first European cup came in the reds sucessful defense of the trophy, with Liverpool beating Belgian side club Brugge by a single goal to nil at Wembley, with fellow Scot Kenny Dalglish scoring the games only goal.

Souness was also part of the team that beat Spanish side Real Madird by the same margain in the nineteen eighty one final held in Paris.

Souness collected hid third and final European cup in nineteen eighty four.  With Liverpool travelloing to Rome to play Roma in their own olympic staduim, few gave Liverpool much chance of winning lifting the trophy for the fourth time in their history.

After a the scores were level at one each after extra time the final went to penalties with Liverpool winning the spot kick contest.  Souness collected the trophy as captain and that was to be his final act as a Liverpool player as he left the club for Italian side Sampadoria soon after.
