They don't get points for not answering questions. Rather they get some points for participating in the debates or even logging in every time.

We get points for logging in and debates but not for not answering questions. The reason they make points for stuff other than answering questions is because they want people who don't have the answers to the questions to still be with their site.

Points are given to people who answer question because it is presumed that they wish to be helpful, share their knowledge or experience and help the person who asked the question. There are no points given for not answering a question because there's obviously no answer. If you don't answer there's no way to know who you are. Hence ,no points. If your answer is not the answer the questioner is looking for, it can be rated. If it gets 1 star, that's a negative response and will show up as answered but not worthy of a mark, in other words, that person who put the answer in the answer box gets a rating for the answer and the answer is rated just because it's there.I would do better at this question if I had some idea what the question really was. This answer may be rated 1 star. Not good, but I will get points for trying. Points are given for showing interest and being involved in the site. This is what the site is meant to be.
