What Is The Drama Centre?

Answer Question

Drama Centre (also known as Trauma Centre and Marine Boot Camp) is an NCDT accredited drama school. It is based at Central St Martins College of Art and Design.

It is currently headed by the charismatic Vladimir Mirodan, an alumni of Drama Centre, established theatre director and chef and former head of drama at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.

The Drama Centre was primarily an actors training programme, it is deeply Stanislavski-based, based on the truth of emotion and living the character and is particularly harsh compared to other drama schools.

The centre was the focus of a television documentary series called Theatre School, in the early Nineties, which featured Tara Fitzgerald as a young actresses (Now seen in Waking the Dead).  The documentary scared lots of potential actors out of training, as it featured a great deal of nudity.

Famous alumni include Mirodan, Alan Dunnett (poet and staff member), Paul Bettany (Beautiful Mind), Colin Firth, Colin Simm and Geraldine James.
