Cameroon's culture is as diverse and varied as its population and geography. In the western mountains the Kirdi and the Matakam are skilled at making their distinctive pottery. The beautifully made brass pipes of the Tikar are famous, while the Ngoutou and the Bamum are known for their two faced masks, and smiling masks respectively.

In Douala, there is a library, maintained by L'Institut Français d'Afrique, specializes in the ethnology, sociology, and history of Africa. The Diamare and Maroua Museum among others showcase anthropological collections pertaining to the Sudanese peoples, while in Douala, the Cameroon Museum has exhibits of prehistoric objects and natural history.

Cameroon also has a number of cultural organizations like the Cameroun Cultural Association, the Federal Linguistic and Cultural Centre, and the Cameroun Cultural Society. There are also a number of women's youth and sporting associations.
