Moses and Aaron took God's message to the Pharaoh, King of Egypt, asking that the Hebrew/Jews/Israelites be set free from slavery so that they could leave Egypt and return to the homeland that God given to Abraham and forefathers many generations earlier. Go sent, through Moses and Aaron, a scene in which Aaron's staff became a serpent that ate the serpents that Pharaoh's magicians' staffs became.

After Pharaoh said that he would not free the slaves, at God's command, Aaron raised his staff and a plague came upon Egypt in which the Nile River turned to blood, but Pharaoh still said no.

After God sent a plague of frogs upon Egypt, Pharaoh reneged on his earlier decision: to let the slaves free. That decision was another promise that "if the Nile returns to water.." and then, "if the frogs are gone…" then I will let the slaves go free.

Then Aaron waved his staff and all the dust of the earth became gnats. This was the first of the plagues that Pharaoh's magicians could NOT duplicate even though they tried all their magical tools and toys. That was the time that they said to Pharaoh, "This is the finger of God." They were telling him that God was the power behind Moses and Aaron.

But, Pharaoh would not listen even to his on magicians and decide to let the Israelites free.
