Boat is not a living thing. It is a stationary object. Live objects sink. Lets take an example of a man. When he falls in the water, he begins to sink. When he station himself and doesn't breath and doesn't move, he becomes a stationary object and water holds him. Then he can float on the water as long as he can hold his breath. Boats can't breath, they are dead objects so they can't sink.
