How Does Broadband Work?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The Broadband connection supports a wide range of frequencies they mainly consists of audio and video frequencies. Broadband connections divide the total signal capacity into multiple channels. Our regular phone lines carry up to 56kbps of data by using dialup modems which is its maximum capacity. People demanded faster net connections as the existing connections were not nearly as fast as our internet dependency, this lead to broadband connections.

If you were to travel on an interstate and there are not enough lanes, the traffic is forced to go slower. Similarly the broadband connection has many channels for the information to be sent hence avoiding a bottle neck. The greater the bandwidth the quicker the browsing and downloads. In broadband connections, transmission speeds exceed 200 kilobits per second (Kbps). These connections can be setup wirelessly, using telephone lines and buy using coaxial cables.
