How Big Is A Jack Russel Terrier?

The Jack Russell Terrier is small sized and intelligent possessing a lot of energy.They are considered as one of the smartest dogs in the world and therefore are popular as pets.They are basically hunting dogs as they have their origins in fox hunting and rat catching.

The Jack Russel Terrier love hunting and digging a lot.They can be a lot of nuisance if they go around digging your flower beds. Jack Russel Terrier are also known to be intolerant toward children and therefore it is better that they are either raised in a house where there are no children or the terriers are properly exercised, disciplined and trained to obey.

The Jack Russell Terrier are small terriers, predominantly white in colour.The Jack Russell Terrier Club of America, has a breed standard.According to them Jack Russells are 10 to 15 inches (25 to 38 cm) where body length is in proportion to the height. The American Kennel Club's breed standard recognises the Parson Russell Terriers(They are not Jack Russel terriers) as being from 12 to 15 inches (30 to 38 cm) also calling for body length to be in proportion to the height. The club also recognises the 10-12 inch (25 to 30 cm) Jack Russell Terrier as the Russell Terrier, omitting "Jack" from the name and the body length being slightly longer than the height.They usually have a double coat of smooth,rough and mixed coats with upright tails six to eight inches long.
They make loving pets but have to be kept engaged constantly and disciplined to keep their tempers in check.
