Native American Indians, the original inhabitants of America, faced a hard time when the Europeans invaded the continent. The European invaders called Native Americans Pagan, and thought of them as people who were not culturally developed. To some extent the culture of Native Americans was also responsible for the Europeans labeling them as such; some of the tribes they found ate raw meat.
The Native Americans were not given their say while making the constitution of America and they were quite secluded from the rest of the world. The Indian Civil Rights Act was brought in the year 1968 to rectify this very malady and extending constitutional protection to the Native Americans.
Although the whole world wants to preserve the culture of the Native Americans, the popular perception of them being not "developed" is still in people's mind. One can only say that unless we start looking at them as our peers, we will not be able to do justice to them!

Well if that is the case then what is the root of the problem? Who is responsible for putting the perception of native american indians being undeveloped , it was the americans who portrayed them as uncooperative and savage. The american indians were extremely cooperative and signed 300 treaties with the americans , they trusted the false promises of the american settlers but at the end of the day not a single treaty was fulfilled and even after this , they took everything away from them .
