    Behavior Analysis is the branch of psychology that studies the effect of environment on behavior. Behavior analysts are primarily interested in learning a motivation. They believe that behaviors are controlled by their consequences and by nothing else. Behaviors that produce pleasant outcomes tends to be repeated, where as those that produce unpleasant consequences or no consequences at all are less likely to be repeated behavior analysts do their research in the laboratory or in applied settings, such as schools, homes and businesses. Their finding have bee applied to teaching, business management and psychotherapy.

    Behavior analysts have contributing much to the study of drug addiction. They have developed methods for studying the way the pleasurable events including the effects of drugs lead people to repeat certain behaviors. They have discovered that some of the negative effects of addictive drugs including with drawl symptoms are learned. They have developed methods that can indicate the abuse potential of newly developed drugs before they are tried on people. Psychotherapists have applied the discoveries of behavior analysts to the treatment of people with drug addictions.
