There are many verses in the bible that point to God's plan on your life and your need to trust in Him.  Jeremiah 29 verse 11 states, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah was considered a prophet, meaning that he heard from God and spoke the words of God to the people. Jeremiah was speaking in this case to the exiles from Israel, declaring the promises that God had for his people and to the future that God had planned for them, to eventually return them from exile. Similarly you can take this verse and apply it to your own life.  If you believe God made you and has a plan for your future, as declared here, you are able to trust in God and His word and the promise made to you here. In terms of trusting in this promise Proverbs three verses five and six tell us to, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." Here we learn that our own wisdom and understanding of our circumstances is limited to our own human experience of life. But God has a plan, and he is able to see your future, his understanding is greater because he knows your future. Therefore the bible says it is important to trust God, who has planned your future, with full understanding of what that means. If God has promised that He 'has plans to prosper you' as stated above, then trusting in what God says will bring 'straight paths' as Proverbs states above also.

Jeremiah 29:10-14 from the Message:
"...I'll show up and take care of you as I promised and bring you back home. I know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out-- plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.

When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I'll listen.

When you come looking for me, you'll find me. Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I'll make sure you won't be disappointed." God's decree. "I'll turn things around for you..."

A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps. (Proverbs 16:9)
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord ... (Psalm 37:23)
I will instruct you and teach you in the way should go; I will guide you with My eye. (Psalm 32:8)
The Lord will guide you continually ... (Isaiah 58:11)
Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass ... Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him. (Psalm 37:4,7)

Proverbs chapter 3: Verses 5 and 6
Matthew Chapter 6: Verses 19  all the way down to 34.  I love this one, Jesus said these words himself.
There are lots in Ephesians too...one that says: Do not be anxious over anything but by prayer and supplication make your petitions known to God and the peace of God that excels all power will guard your heart and mental powers by means of Christ Jesus..but I can't remember where exactly to find that one..phil. 4: 6, 7?

My favorite verse on trusting GOD is:

Romans 8:28 (NIV)

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

This verse reminds me that no matter how horrible a situation may appear, a little ways down the road, everything will work out for the best.  My GOD promises to use the hurt, to use the pain, to use the trauma, to grow His kingdom, to make right the wrongs, and to ensure a happy ending.  All things work together for good IF you love the Lord.  In HIS purpose, everything bad becomes good.
