Central bank of Pakistan is responsible for conducting monetary policy in Pakistan. Monetary policy controls money supply and price level in an economy. It is also responsible for maintaining the stability of the national currency and money supply. State bank of Pakistan also has the supervisory power to control other financial institutions including banks. Moreover, it controls subsidized loans, interest rates and it also acts as a lender of last resort to the banking sector.
