What Methods Were Used To Fight In WW1?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The main tactic used was trench warfare and of course artillery barrages (which were very inaccurate), a famous example of this is the creeping barrage which aided in the allies winning the war.

Tanks were only developed at the end of the war so many generals simply sent out masses of troops, causing them to be murdered (known as going "over the top"). If you are interested in trench warfare and the consequences of it, you may want to research on its conditions (muddy water, trench foot etc) or even the "battle of the somme" where hundreds of thousands died in a single day of battle.
