The last manager to win the first division and Premiership would be former Liverpool player Kenny Dalglish, who won the old English first division championship whilst at manger of Liverpool in nineteen eighty five, six, in his first season as Liverpool manager, again in eighty seven, eighty eight, and for a third time in eighty nine ninety.
After resigning his position as Liverpool manager in the following season (ninteen ninety, ninety one), Kenny Dalglish wound up as Blackburn Rovers manager in the mid nighties. He eventually won the Premiership title in the ninteen ninety four, five season, when Rovers clinched the title by only one point, wrestling the title from the then champions Manchester United who finished the season as runners up.
Currently, Kenny Dalglish is the only manager to have managed this remarkable feet of winning the old first division and the Premiership.
Currently no manager has won the Premier league after winning the Championship, and with the big four in the Premier league currently dominating the English top flight, it seems unlikely that will change anytime soon.

The last English manager to win the top flight (First Division or the subsequent Premiership) was Howard Wilkinson, who did it with Leeds United in the 1991-92 season, just before the start of the Premiership era.
