Notts County Football Club was founded in 1862 and is officially the oldest surviving professional football club in the world and are even older than the Football Association.

The club was one of the original twelve founding members of the Football League which was formed in 1888. They are also instrumental in the creation of the official set of football rules and invented the 'offside' rule.

Notts County moved to the Trent Bridge Cricket Ground in 1883 when Nottingham Forest vacated it. However they moved to Meadow Lane in 1910 and this has been their home ground ever since. It has a capacity for over 20,000 spectators.

Notts County won the FA cup in the season of 1893/94 when they defeated Bolton at Goodison Park by 4-1.

Notts County have been champions of the Second, Third and Fourth League during the club's existence. They currently play in League Two and came in 21st place in the 2005/06 season.
