What Is A Teacher- Poem?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A teacher-poem is a poem written for a favourite teacher, usually on Teacher's Day, held on the Tuesday of the first full week of May, expressing gratitude for their work and advice. They may also be combined with a gift, which are often personalized for a particular teacher. Poems can be written by one person or written in a group and presented by the entire class. Poems can also be written for special occasions, such as a teacher's birthday, or more commonly their retirement, as well as being produced for substitute teachers leaving the school. They can take the form of simple rhyming verses for younger children, haikus, and even sonnets for older classes. Poets who have written teacher-poems include Joanna Fuchs, Sylvia Chidi, Willow Ingram, Allan Ahlberg, and Dr. John Celes. Notable examples of a teacher-poem include 'A Bad or a Good Teacher' by Chidi, and 'The Supply Teacher' by Ahlberg.
