Registering to vote is one of the most important things you can do. It’s very easy to register—some states will even let you register online. But that can make it equally easy to forget if you actually registered, or to know if your registration actually went through. Also, there are deadlines for registering to vote, and if you miss the deadline, you’ll have to wait until the next election to participate in the democratic process.
Here are a couple of ways to double-check:
Call 1-866-698-6831 (1-866-MYVOTE1). This is a toll-free call and they can transfer you to your state’s voter registration office.
You can also go to VoteSmart.org's website, which has a page for voter registration information. Here you can click on the name of your state, click the "Go" button, and lots of great information comes up. You’ll get a map to your polling place, voter registration deadlines, qualifications, and state-specific information, like whether or not you have to declare a party preference and who can vote by absentee ballot.
There are also links at the VoteSmart website to each state’s voter registration office, and that link will include the phone number. The state employee will verify your identity, then check the voter rolls and tell you whether or not you’re registered, and if you were registered by the deadline for the next election.

You are probably registered; if so, you'll automatically receive voting papers before the next election. However if you want to check, you could find the contact details of the office where you sent your application, and give them a call. If you don't have the details, you can ask for them at your nearest council or administrative office.

Your county clerk's office should have a record of all registered voters.

If you're already registered, you will automatically receive your sample ballet and all the literature from the running mates.  In addition, you'll probably get those annoying phone calls & such.  If you're unsure or have moved, you can contact your county clerk or visit www.voterview.org
