The term 'attacking zone' is essentially ice hockey terminology. The ice hockey rink consists of a blue line, which is placed at a distance of 60 feet from the line of the goal. This line divides the ice into 3 sections also known as zones: the attacking zone, the defensive zone and the neutral zone. The attacking zone is that area which lies between the blue line and the line of the goal on the opponent's side. It is popularly also called the offensive zone. It is always the last in the line of zones and is the most critical area when the team wishes to score. The size of the hockey rink is different for North America and for the rest of the world. If any player crosses the blue line on his opponent's side without the puck first going there, it is then called an offside.
