What Does Tanya Mean In French, Spanish And Russian?

Answer Question

Tanya (sometimes spelled Tania) is now very popular throughout the English-speaking world. It is actually a pet form or familiar form of the Russian name Tatyana or Tatiana. The full Russian name is also sometimes used in other languages, but not as often as the short form Tanya.

The original meaning of Tatiana is hard to discover. It has been popular in Russia ever since the early days of Christianity in Russia, and the name is associated with saints. However, in origin it is Latin, derived from the male Latin name Tatianus. This itself was based on the name of an old Roman family (Tatius) but like a lot of ancient Roman family names, its origin is so far back in time that we can't really be sure what it meant.

As far as that goes, Tanya/ Tania  would probably be the same in Spanish or French, though I don't think the name is well known in either language.
