Yes. You need to refer to your lease agreement and see if it has a provision concerning the sale of the property. Most standard leases hold both parties to the lease for the term of the lease. So if your landlord sells the property you may stay for the remaining term of the lease. The new owner may want to negotiate a new lease with you. Or at the end of your lease he could ask you to move.

I'm actually in the same situation you are. I'm in a rental house that was recently put on the market and my landlord has asked that I stay until the house sells. I am not in a lease, but he said he would give me atleast 3 weeks to get out. Just try to talk to your landlord. try to do it over email so you have some written form of communication.

My landlord asked that i stay until it sells but i found a place i want to move in to and now i have to give a thirty day notice and pay half a months rent for time i will not be livnig there!!! There has got to be a way around giving a thirty day notice when she is the one selling the house and putting me in this position.
