Climate may be defined as 'the weather in some location averaged over some long period of time; "the dank climate of southern Wales"; "plants from a cold clime travel best in winter" or the prevailing psychological state; "the climate of opinion"; "the national mood had changed radically since the last election"'. In most cases climate is the term used to refer to the weather which is averaged over a long interval of time. This period of time is generally taken to be 30 years.

Tthe concept of "climate" can included the weather statistics like the degree of day-to-day variation expected. There are different classifications, but in broad, general terms, climate zones can range in latitude from tropical to mid-latitude to polar. Although it is usually used in reference to the weather, it is often used in sociology and in politics, where the term is used to refer to a concept of aggregate mood prevailing within a society, by means of an analogy to weather and temperature.
