According To Darwin, Why Is The Skin Of The Lips, Anus, And Nipple Darker Than The Rest Of The Skin?

The color of
the body is determined by the presence of a dark color pigment called melanin.
The melanin is produced by the melanocytes in the basal layer of epidermis
under the influence of MSH or melanin stimulating hormone produced by the pituitary
glands. The production of melanin is genetically inherited. But some environmental
factors like exposure to sun and medicines like birth control pills also affect
melanin production. The color of lips, anus breast, scrotum and clitoris are of
darker color due to more melanin distribution in these areas due to inheritance.
 According to Darwin's
theory of sexual selection, these area attract the opposite sex and help in the
selection of mats.
