'You Oughta Know' is the name of a Grammy winning song which was performed by singer Alanis Morissette, co written with Glen Ballard, the producer for her album titled Jagged Little Pill in which the song is included. The lyrics of the song depict Morissette's relationship which went foul, with an unidentified partner. They convey a harsh message to the unidentified lover through this very public medium.

The crass language, aggressive revenge situations and knife-like vocals were a shock to mainstream pop music and reached the top of the Modern Rock Charts.  After the single, Morissette became a name to reckon with in the music industry, and she has not looked back since.

A popular rumour regarding the song is that it was penned for Morissette's former boyfriend Dave Coulier of Full House fame.
